Score:
Southern New Hampshire University 3, Le Moyne College 1
Records: SNHU 11-12 (7-7 NE10), Le Moyne 14-12 (7-7 NE10)

Senior Marisa Coronis (Hudson, N.H.) tallied up 21 kills Saturday to guide the Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team to a 3-1 triumph (29-27, 22-25, 25-22, 25-17) against Le Moyne College in the regular-season finale on Senior Day at the SNHU Fieldhouse.

Southern New Hampshire winds up finishing ninth in the Northeast-10 standings, just one game out of a postseason spot following Southern Connecticut State University's 3-0 win at Saint Michael's College just 40 minutes earlier.

While Coronis wraps up her career with 1,166 kills, which is just a single kill shy of matching Brittany Porter's all-time record of 1,167 kills that she set from 2002-05, she did break the single-season kills mark, closing out the year with 346 to top Emma Houlihan's 2012 record of 338.

Kills from juniors Priscila Castro (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and Jessica Dillon (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) helped Southern New Hampshire open the match on a 6-1 run, before a 5-1 counter-run from Le Moyne pulled it within one at 7-6. The back-and-forth continued with a pair of Castro kills and a service ace from senior Kathleen Schurman (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) opening up an 11-7 lead for the Penmen.

Le Moyne would eventually claw its way back to even at 23-23. Trailing, 24-23, and 25-24, Southern New Hampshire received a kill from Coronis both times to stay alive. The Dolphins again went in front, 26-25, but this time it was Castro saving the day with a kill before another Schurman ace put the hosts in front, 27-26. A Jessica Miller kill would level the set before kills from Castro and sophomore Amanda Costales (Wantagh, N.Y.) gave the Penmen the marathon win and a 1-0 lead in the match.

Trailing, 3-1, early in the second set, Southern New Hampshire scored four straight on kills from Dillon and Coronis, as well as a service ace from Costales, to go in front, 5-3. Le Moyne answered, however, rattling off five straight points to leapfrog back on top, 8-5. The score was 18-15 later in the stanza when five straight made up a 6-2 spurt that gave Le Moyne match-point at 24-17. Three kills from Coronis powered a 5-0 stretch that pulled the Penmen within 24-22, but a Jacquelyne Ghindia kill evened the match, 1-1.

Set No. 3 was tied, 2-2, when five straight points triggered a 7-2 run – with three Coronis kills – to give the hosts a 9-4 advantage. A 5-2 spurt trimmed the Dolphins' deficit to 11-9 before the Penmen erupted for a 9-1 surge that extended the lead to 20-10. Le Moyne responded with a 12-4 blitz that slashed the gap to just a pair at 24-22 before a service error from the Dolphins gave SNHU the set and a 2-1 lead in the match.

After falling behind, 2-0, in the fourth set, Southern New Hampshire scored six straight as part of a 12-2 jolt that put them in the driver's seat at 12-4. Coronis submitted two kills and a pair of aces during the stretch, while Dillon tacked on two kills. Le Moyne tallied nine of the next 14 points to climb within three before three Coronis kills powered a 6-1 spurt that stretched the Penmen lead to 22-14. After the Dolphins scored two straight, SNHU ended the set and the match with three of the final four points.

Coronis, in her final career match, equaled her lifetime hitting percentage of .241, while tallying nine digs, three blocks and two service aces. Castro posted 12 kills, 12 digs and two service aces, while Dillon turned in a triple-double of 10 kills, 24 assists and 14 digs. Costales also reached 10 kills, with senior Carolyn Scacchi (Peabody, Mass.) chiming in with three kills and six blocks. Sophomore Joanne Coffey (Merrimack, N.H.) dished 27 assists and added six digs, with Schurman collecting 23 digs and posting the two service aces.
