Sophomore Nadjib Chibout (Lyon, France) notched a penalty kick goal in the 84th minute to lead the 18th-ranked Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over the College of Saint Rose on Saturday evening at Penmen Stadium.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Chibout's goal was his third of the season.
- Senior goalkeeper Daniel Milton (Ajax, Ontario) made two saves for his seventh shutout of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a deadlocked start to the first half, Southern New Hampshire looked to have the first goal when sophomore Tom Marriott (Nottingham, England) sent a cross from right to left across the box that senior Alex Satrustegui (Pamplona, Spain) deflected in at the left post, but the linesman signaled offsides.
- The Penmen had a pair of good chances right in front within the first 10 minutes of the second half, but junior Michael Goncalves (Ludlow, Mass.) and redshirt-sophomore Andre Pereira (Cheshire, Conn.) both hit their shots just over the crossbar.
- SNHU again looked to take the lead in the 68th minute, but Marriott's penalty kick clanged off the post.
- The Penmen were snake-bitten again in the 82nd minute, as Satrustegui's penalty kick missed the mark.
- The third time was a charm for SNHU, with Chibout booting a blast into the back of the net on his PK opportunity at the 83:22 mark.
