Senior Alex Satrustegui (Pamplona, Spain) and sophomore Tom Marriott (Nottingham, England) each scored a second-half penalty kick goal, as the seventh-ranked Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team played to a 2-2 tie at American International College on Saturday evening at Abdow Field. 

STANDOUT PERFORMERS 

  • The goal was Satrustegui's nation-leading 17th of the season.
  • Marriott is now 4-for-4 this season on penalty kick tries after netting his seventh goal of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • AIC snapped a scoreless tie early in the 27th minute when Adrian Romero set up a Josip Validzic shot that beat senior goalkeeper Daniel Milton (Ajax, Ontario).
  • The match went to halftime with the Yellow Jackets leading, 1-0, but SNHU would tie it just 1:31 into the second half on Marriott's goal.
  • The Penmen went in front near the midway point of the 64th minute on Satrustegui's tally.
  • The Yellow Jackets gained the equalizer early in the 71st minute when Yanis Boucetta collected a Jake Durham feed and found the back of the net.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Milton made two saves, while AIC goalkeeper Nicholas Romei stopped three shots.
  • The Yellow Jackets held a 14-13 edge in shots, including 6-3 in the opening half.
  • Southern New Hampshire owned a 14-5 margin in corner kicks, including 8-1 after halftime.

NOTES

  • Southern New Hampshire, which is ranked seventh in the United Soccer Coaches Division II Poll, is unbeaten in 10 of 11 to begin the season.
  • Satrustegui has now scored in 23 of the 28 matches he has played in with the Penmen, who are 19-3-1 when he finds the back of the net.
  • With 17 goals and two assists for 36 points through 11 games, Satrustegui has already equaled or surpassed two of those categories from his 15-goal, 4-assist, 34-point performance from 17 matches a year ago.
  • Southern New Hampshire moves to 90-12-10 (.848) over its last 112 matches dating back to the beginning of the 2013 National Championship season.
