HOW IT HAPPENED
- Southern New Hampshire held an 11-10 edge in the opening set when it ripped off a 13-2 run – highlighted by three aces and a kill from Costales, as well as a trio of kills from Castro – to put it on top, 24-12. Saint Rose then reeled off nine-in-a-row to close within three, but a kill from Fontaine clinched the set and put the Penmen in front, 1-0.
- SNHU led, 21-20, in the second set before Saint Rose scored five straight points – including a pair of Sam Kubik aces – to pull even at 1-1.
- The Penmen again held a 19-18 lead near the end of the third set, with Costales contributing three kills to a 6-2 run that gave the visitors a 2-1 edge in the match.
- A Costales kill in set No. 4 put the Penmen up, 24-20, but three straight points sliced the Golden Knights' deficit to one before an error foiled the Saint Rose rally and gave Southern New Hampshire the win.
