BOX SCORE

When and Where: September 11, 2018 – Manchester, N.H. (Melucci Field)
Score: Southern New Hampshire University 3, Saint Anselm College 1
Records:
SNHU 5-0-0 (1-0-0 NE10), Saint Anselm 1-3-0 (0-1-0 NE10)

Guess who? Senior Alex Satrustegui (Pamplona, Spain) scored for the fifth straight match, netting what would be the eventual game winner, to help the Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team to a 3-1 victory at crosstown-rival Saint Anselm College on Tuesday afternoon in its Northeast-10 opener.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS

  • Satrustegui's goal was his nation-leading 10th of the season.
  • Sophomores Nadjib Chibout (Leon, France) and Ramon Hofmann (Thuringia, Germany) also scored goals for the Penmen.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • It took until the 29th minute for Southern New Hampshire to break through when sophomore Jannik Mohr (Koblenz, Germany) sent a long ball from his own defensive end to a streaking Chibout, who beat Saint Anselm goalkeeper Jacob Rostkowski to make it 1-0.
  • The score stayed that way until late in the 59th minute when Satrustegui stuck, collecting a long ball served up by sophomore Tom Marriott (Nottingham, England) from the defensive end before he went 1-on-1 and finished to double the lead.
  • Hofmann all but sealed it early in the 87th minute, dribbling in alone and finding the back of the net to push the lead to 3-0.
  • The Penmen looked like they were going to wrap up their fourth consecutive shutout, but the Hawks had other ideas, as Taylor Silverstein sent a cross from right-to-left that ended up on the foot of Nichollas Guimaraes, who put it past senior goalkeeper Daniel Milton (Ajax, Ontario) with just eight seconds on the clock.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Milton made two saves for SNHU, while Rostkowski turned aside nine shots for Saint Anselm.
  • The Penmen doubled up the Hawks in shots, 20-10, including 14-7 in the second stanza.
  • Southern New Hampshire also held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
