Sophomore Irem Bat (Istanbul, Turkey) recorded a career-best 18 kills to lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-22) victory against in-state rival Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday night at the Stan Spirou Field House.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS

  • Bat hit .382 – her best mark of the season when swinging on more than 11 attempts – and added six digs and a pair of solo blocks.
  • Junior Baylee Lippincott (Phoenix, Ariz.) also turned in an impressive evening, notching nine kills on .500 hitting, with four blocks.
  • Senior Jessica Dillon (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) submitted a double-double with 30 assists and 11 digs, to go along with a service ace.
  • Freshman Megan Palmer (Prior Lake, Minn.) collected four service aces and seven digs, with senior Shaira Sanabria (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) adding 11 digs.
  • Junior Amanda Costales (Wantagh, N.Y.) posted six kills, a service ace and nine digs, while classmate Jaclyn Maguire (Rochester, N.Y.) chipped in six kills and five digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • With the opening set tied, 11-11, Southern New Hampshire ripped off a 14-5 run that included three kills and an ace from Bat, to put the Penmen ahead, 1-0, in the match.
  • Tied at 4-all in the second set, three more Bat kills carried a 6-0 spurt that created separation for SNHU and put it in front, 10-4. After the Ravens trimmed their deficit in half with three straight kills, Southern New Hampshire ended the set on a 15-7 rush, which including five kills from Bat and three from Lippincott, to go up, 2-0.
  • In the third set, the Penmen were clinging to a 23-22 advantage when a pair of attack errors by the visitors clinched SNHU the match.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • SNHU outhit Franklin Pierce in all three sets, as well as .308-.103 for the match.

NOTES

  • Southern New Hampshire extends its winning streak to three straight.
  • The Penmen have won nine straight sets, last losing one at Saint Anselm College back on Sept. 12.
