Senior Alex Satrustegui (Pamplona, Spain) continued the incredible beginning to his season with two more goals, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team recorded its third straight shutout with a 4-0 victory against Molloy College on Saturday at Penmen Stadium.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS

  • Satrustegui's goals were his nation-leading eighth and ninth of the season.
  • Sophomore Tom Marriott (Nottingham, England) and graduate student João Brum (Ribeira Grande, Portugal) also added goals.
  • Senior goalkeeper Daniel Milton (Ajax, Ontario) turned aside both shots he faced for his third consecutive shutout.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After Marriott made it a perfect 3-for-3 on penalty kicks this season early in the 13th minute, Satrustegui struck for the first time in the 24th minute with a ridiculous show of athleticism. Grad student Jonathan Cruickshank (Diego Martin, Trinidad & Tobago) sent a corner service into the far left side of the box where it struck off the hands of Molloy goalkeeper Raul Bonilla, but Satrustegui quickly reacted and sent a bicycle kick flying into the back of the net to put the Penmen up, 2-0.
  • The score stayed that way into the second half when Brum set up a free kick on the left and sent a rocket off the near post before it caromed across the goalmouth, off the far post and in to make it 3-0 in the 65th minute.
  • Satrustegui put the finishing touches on the victory in the 73rd minute, sliding to punch home a ball rolling across the goal line after junior Michael Goncalves (Ludlow, Mass.) had put a low shot off the left post from the near endline.
