Senior Molly Terry (Shrewsbury, Mass.) scored a team-best 17 points and freshman Ariana Koivisto (Pomfret, Conn.) added a career-best 15, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team secured a 74-69 victory against a scrappy Goldey-Beacom College team on Saturday afternoon at the Stan Spirou Field House.

KEY MOMENTS
  • The score was tied, 46-46, with just over four minutes to play in the third quarter, when Southern New Hampshire used an 11-2 run - with four points from Dean and three from Terry - to open its largest lead of the contest at 57-48 with 1:42 remaining in the stanza.
  • Goldey-Beacom fought back to make it a one-point game just over three minutes into the final frame, but eight straight for the Penmen - highlighted by a Terry triple - matched that biggest lead at 68-59 with 3:42 to go. The Lightning would get as close as four, but Koivisto went 3-for-4 from the line over the final 18 seconds to seal it.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Amanda McGrogan led all scorers with 25 points (11-20 FG, 3-5 3-FG), including the 1,000th of her career.
  • The Lightning outshot the Penmen, 46.9 percent (30-64) to 37.3 percent (25-67), including 34.8 percent (8-23) to 30 percent (6-20) from behind the arc.
  • Southern New Hampshire cleaned up from the stripe, going plus-17, as it outshot GBC, 75 percent (18-24) to 33.3 percent (1-3).
  • The Penmen owned the glass (51-27), including 20-3 on the offensive end, and collected more second chance points (12-4) and fast break points (22-4), while the Lightning narrowly captured the paint (38-6), gathered more points off turnovers (18-6), and turned in a better assist-to-turnover ratio (14/14-14/17).
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire has now won four straight.
  • SNHU improves to 1-1 in the all-time series versus Goldey-Beacom.
  • Roche, who has notched three of her five double-digit scoring efforts this season in the last four games, is averaging 11.3 points per game during that stretch.
  • Koivisto had not reached double figures since scoring 11 on opening day before exploding for the career-high 15.
  • In both reaching career bests on the glass, Deyo and Dean nearly single-handedly outrebounded Goldey-Beacom (26-27).
