Three days after Eamonn Joyce (Medford, Mass.) set new career highs in points and rebounds, the senior did it again with a career-best 35 points, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's basketball team defeated the College of Saint Rose, 92-80, Saturday afternoon at Nolan Gymnasium.

KEY MOMENTS
  • Southern New Hampshire, which led, 44-34, at halftime, had extended its advantage to 57-44 less than five minutes into the second half when a 15-5 stretch - highlighted by 3-pointers from Joyce, Conroy and Almonacy - gave the Penmen their largest lead of the contest at 72-49 with 12:47 remaining.
  • Saint Rose closed the game on a 17-7 run to trim the gap, but never drew closer than nine.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Sekou Sylla led Saint Rose with 26 points (12-28 FG, 2-2 FT) and 14 rebounds.
  • The Penmen outshot the Golden Knights, 55.4 percent (31-56) to 46.5 percent (33-71), while Saint Rose narrowly returned the favor from long range, 53.8 percent (7-13) to 52.7 percent (15-29).
  • Saint Rose was also perfect from the line in outshooting SNHU, 100 percent (7-7) to 71.4 percent (15-21), though the visitors were plus-8 at the stripe.
  • The Penmen collected more points off turnovers (25-11) and featured a better assist-to-turnover ratio (20/13-17/15), while the Golden Knights captured the glass (36-28) and the paint (48-32), gathered more points on the fast break (18-15) and second chance points (19-5), and received more scoring from their bench (20-16).
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire wins its second straight, while Saint Rose loses for the 14th time in its last 15 contests.
  • SNHU, which leads the all-time series, 22-15, has won nine of the last 10 meetings against the Golden Knights, including three of four on the road.
  • Joyce reaches the 20-point plateau for the eighth time this season and the 18th time in his career.
  • Joyce's double-double is his fifth of the season and the 10th of his career.

  • The Penmen are back in action Tuesday, Jan. 28 (7:30 p.m.) when they play host to the University of New Haven at the Stan Spirou Field House.
