Penmen Notch 3-2 Overtime Win at Saint Michael's

Marchman Goal Lifts SNHU to Road Win

Junior Taylor Marchman (Derry, N.H.) scored on a two-on-one breakaway a little over six minutes into overtime to lift the SNHU Field Hockey team to a 3-2 win over Saint Michael's in a Northeast-10 contest Tuesday in Colchester, Vt.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
KEY MOMENTS
  • Bates scored her first career goal to give the Penmen a 1-0 lead just 5:13 into the contest.
  • Bonnie Gillis tied the game at 1-1 less than two minutes later - and the Penmen and Purple Knights were tied 1-1 at halftime.
  • SNHU moved in front 2-1 in the closing seconds of the third period when Campbell took advantage of a giveaway in front of the net for her third goal of the season.
  • Saint Michael's battled back to tie the contest with about three minutes to play on a goal by Petra Bajuk.
  • Graduate student goalkeeper Kate Pigsley (East Kingston, N.H.) came up with a big kick save just before the Penmen goal, denying Jenna Puleo.
  • Turkmen collected the long rebound, advancing into the Purple Knight's end.  Her pass found Marchman for the game-winning goal.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Pigsley made nine saves to earn her second win.  Riley O'Connor made seven saves for Saint Michael's College.
  • Saint Michael's had a slim shot advantage of 19-18 for the contest, and had 12 penalty corners to seven for the Penmen.
NOTES
  • SNHU avenges an early-season 5-2 non-conference loss to Saint Michael's.   The Penmen lead the all-time series with the Purple Knights 7-5..
