Graduate student goalkeeper Kate Pigsley (East Kingston, N.H.) made three saves, but the Southern New Hampshire University field hockey team was edged by eighth-ranked Saint Anselm College, 1-0, Monday evening at Grappone Stadium.

  • The match was locked in a scoreless tie midway through the third quarter when Saint Anselm's Maggie Malloy found the back of the cage at the 38:29 mark to put the hosts up, 1-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Saint Anselm 'keeper Mackenzie McConnell was not called upon to make a save.
  • Saint Anselm dominated in shots, 17-0, including 6-0 in shots on goal.
  • The Hawks also held an 8-1 advantage in penalty corners.

  • SNHU had its two-game winning streak halted
  • Saint Anselm, ranked eighth in the latest Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II National Coaches Poll, has now won nine of its last 10, including five straight.
  • The Hawks, who captured the conference meeting between the two teams Oct. 6 (2-0) at SNHU, have won all 13 meetings with the Penmen.  The shutout of Southern New Hampshire was the fourth consecutive for Saint Anselm.
  • Saint Anselm earns a point in the Queen City Cup standings, but SNHU still leads, 5-3, in the battle for Manchester supremacy.
  • Pigsley has stopped 44 of 57 shots (.772) over her last seven games.
