Graduate student Allyson Patterson (Seekonk, Mass.) buried a goal in the 11th minute that stood up and helped the sixth-ranked Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team defeat Bentley University, 1-0, Wednesday evening at Penmen Stadium.

KEY MOMENTS
  • Patterson found the back of the net off a Butters pass early in the 11th minute to stake Southern New Hampshire to a 1-0 lead.
  • Bentley seriously threatened with less than three minutes to play in the match and looked to have the equalizer, but back-to-back shots were swept off the back line by sophomore Alyssa Anderson (Londonderry, N.H.) and freshman Mikayla Thompson (Milford, N.H.).

NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire, which is ranked sixth in the latest United Soccer Coaches Division II National Top 25 Poll, is now unbeaten in 13 straight contests to begin the season. The 13-match unbeaten streak is the longest to start a campaign for the program since 1989.
  • SNHU, which leads the all-time series with Bentley, 16-7-3, snaps a two-game skid against the Falcons, but is 10-2-3 in the last 15 meetings between the two squads.
  • The Penmen extend their shutout streak to 353:37 with their third straight clean sheet. It is their longest such streak of the season, surpassing the 347:21 stretch they had from Sept. 3-18.
  • SNHU now has eight shutouts this season, with Kaplan collecting their fourth. The eight team clean sheets are the most since the 2017 squad recorded 12.
  • Butters is second on the team in goals (5), assists (3) and points (13). Patterson moves into a tie with Anderson for the team lead in goals (6) and is tied with Butters for second in points.
  • The Penmen are still outscoring their opponents, 26-6, so far this season.
  • Graduate back Ai Inoue (Tokyo, Japan) missed five matches earlier in the season due to injury. In the eight matches she has played, Southern New Hampshire is outscoring its opponents, 19-2.
  • SNHU is now 55-15-11 (.747) over its last 81 matches dating back to the 2016 campaign.
  • SNHU is also now 29-3-4 (.861) at home since the end of the 2016 season, including 20-3-2 (.840) at Penmen Stadium. The Penmen extend their home unbeaten streak to 10 (8-0-2), dating back to Oct. 5, 2019.  
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Penmen return to action Saturday, Oct. 23 (2 p.m.) when they take on the 13th-ranked College of Saint Rose.
  • The next home contest for SNHU is Wednesday, Nov. 3 (4 p.m.) when it wraps up the regular season by playing host to American International College.
