Graduate student Natalie Kallmunzerova (Prague, Czech Republic) went 2-0 Sunday and clinched the victory with her No. 1 singles win, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team made it a perfect weekend with a 6-1 triumph against Stonehill College at the Charles Watt Tennis Courts.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Kallmunzerova defeated Cristina Solorzano Valencia, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 1 singles to officially give the Penmen the win. She also teamed up with senior Alexxa Etienne (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) at No. 1 doubles for a 6-2 victory over Solorzano Valencia and Steffi Antao.
- Junior Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) was ahead, 5-3, in the first set against Antao at No. 2 singles when she was victorious by retirement. Hubickova and senior Elizabeth Dwyer (Cutchogue, N.Y.) clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win at the third flight against Lily Peter and Marissa Such.
- Etienne pulled out a 6-7, 6-2, 10-4 victory against Emma Markaryan at No. 3 singles.
- Sophomore Guntra Upeniece (Riga, Latvia) took care of Peter, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 5 singles.
- Dwyer outlasted Such, 4-6, 6-1, 10-5.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire's 6-1 start matches its record to begin the 2018-19 campaign.
- The win for the Penmen is just their second in the last eight matches against Stonehill, which leads the all-time series, 19-11.
- Kallmunzerova is 13-0 in singles play to begin the season.
- Hubickova betters her career NE10 singles mark to 21-4.
