Junior Mina Houge (Oslo, Norway) clinched the win with a No. 6 singles victory, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team shut out Assumption University, 7-0, Tuesday afternoon at the Penmen Stadium Tennis Courts.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Houge defeated Alexis Connolly, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 6 singles to cement the win.
  • Graduate student Natalie Kallmunzerova (Prague, Czech Republic) blanked Julia Chappell, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles, in addition to recording a 6-1 No. 1 doubles win over Chappell and Cara McCormack with partner, senior Alexxa Etienne (Bayamon, Puerto Rico), that clinched the point.
  • Junior Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) downed McCormack, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and also teamed with senior Elizabeth Dwyer (Cutchogue, N.Y.) to double up Jessica Crosby and Yana Semerly, 6-3, at No. 3 doubles.
  • Etienne breezed past Caitlin Sze, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 3 singles.
  • Junior Isabella Andrade (Cochabamba, Bolivia) was a 6-1, 3-6, 10-2 winner at No. 4 singles over Aimee Figgins. She also combined with sophomore Guntra Upeniece (Riga, Latvia) to blank Sze and Figgins, 6-0, at No. 2 doubles.
  • Upeniece outlasted Semerly, 6-4, 5-7, 10-8, at No. 5 singles.
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire's 7-1 start matches its record to begin the 2019-20 campaign.
  • The Penmen lead the all-time series with Assumption, 16-5, and have now won three-in-a-row versus the Greyhounds.
  • Kallmunzerova is 14-0 in singles play to begin the season.
  • Hubickova betters her career NE10 singles mark to 22-4.
