Pigsley Holds #8 Saint Anselm To Pair of Goals In 2-0 Loss

Penmen and Hawks Meet In Conference Tilt Wednesday Night

Graduate student Kate Pigsley (East Kingston, N.H.) stopped four shots, holding #8 Saint Anselm to a pair of goals, as a short-handed SNHU squad fell 2-0 to the Hawks in a Northeast-10 Conference game on Wednesday night.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
KEY MOMENTS
  • Saint Anselm senior Sarah Bagley scored both goals for the Hawks, giving her five on the season.
  • Bagley scored just 34 seconds into the contest, putting a rebound shot past Pigsley for a 1-0 lead.
  • The goal of the night came early in the final period, and Bagley again took advantage of a loose ball in front of the net to make it 2-0.
  • Sophomore MacKenzie McConnell made four saves for the Hawks, recording her fourth shutout of the season.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Several starters missed the game for SNHU, which was shutout for the first time this season.
  • SNHU's Pigsley has been in goal in each of the eight games for the Penmen.  Her goals against average fell to 3.75.
  • The Hawks had an 8-5 advantage on shots.  SNHU had a 3-1 advantage on penalty corners.
NOTES
  • Saint Anselm has won all 12 meetings with the SNHU.  The shutout of the Penmen was the third consecutive for the Hawks.
  • This was the first of two meetings in the regular season between the cross-town rivals.   The teams are scheduled to play a non-league contest on October 18 at Saint Anselm.

  • The Penmen return to action on Saturday night at New Haven in another Northeast-10 Conference contest.  The next home game for SNHU will be on Saturday, October 16 at Noon against Southern Connecticut State.
