The Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team did not drop a game during doubles play, as it earned its third straight 7-0 shutout by downing Bentley University on Thursday afternoon at the Cordish Tennis Center.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Senior Alexxa Etienne (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) clinched the win for the second straight day with a 6-2, 6-1 No. 3 singles victory against Adriana Hiraldo. She also scored a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles with graduate student Natalie Kallmunzerova (Prague, Czech Republic), as they toppled Hiraldo and Maria Mella.
  • Kallmunzerova blanked Makena Romagnano, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles.
  • Junior Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) was a 6-1, 6-2 winner over Mella at No. 2 singles, in addition to clinching the doubles point at No. 3 with senior Elizabeth Dwyer (Cutchogue, N.Y.), as they breezed past Anna Lang and Libby Keefe, 6-0.
  • Junior Isabella Andrade (Cochabamba, Bolivia) defeated Alessa Matuty, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 4 singles. She and sophomore Guntra Upeniece (Riga, Latvia) also recorded a 6-0 win against Matuty and Romagnano at No. 2 doubles.
  • Upeniece took down Remi LeSage, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 5 singles.
  • Dwyer made quick work of Alyssa Cook, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.
NOTES
  • The Penmen cap their NE10 slate with a record of 9-1 and are the first team to be finished with conference play. SNHU can place no worse than third, but is still mathematically alive for both the regular season title and the top seed for the NE10 Championship. Le Moyne College, at 7-0, controls its own destiny, while Franklin Pierce University (6-1) is also in the mix. The Dolphins and Ravens will square off against each other Sunday (Oct. 10). A Le Moyne win would assure the Penmen of no worse than the No. 2 seed, while an FPU win would put a tiebreaker in play for the top seed.
  • Southern New Hampshire's 9-1 start matches its record to begin the 2019-20 campaign.
  • SNHU now has five 7-0 victories in its last seven matches and has dropped just one point in the last five outings.
  • The Penmen lead the all-time series with Bentley, 15-9, and have now won 14-in-a-row versus the Falcons.
  • Kallmunzerova is 16-0 in singles play to begin the season.
  • Hubickova betters her career NE10 singles mark to 24-4.
WHAT'S NEXT
  • The Penmen wrap up their fall regular season at Post University on Sunday, Oct. 10 (12 p.m.).
