KEY MOMENTS
- Bentley began the game on a 21-5 run over the opening 5:20 and led by as many as 17 in the first half before Southern New Hampshire finally responded with a 15-5 blitz – with seven points from Gray – to trim its deficit to 46-42 with less than a minute to go before halftime. Bentley led it, 48-44, at the break.
- The Falcons opened the second half on a 14-3 run to stretch their lead to 62-47 5:20 in. SNHU would get to within 11 with less than five minutes on the clock, but Bentley scored 13 of the next 20 to match its largest lead of the day at 94-77 with 32 seconds to go.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Junior Ryan Layman (Wrentham, Mass.) posted seven points (3-6 FG, 1-2 FT) and four boards.
- Freshman Derrick Grant (Plainfield, N.J.) tallied four points (1-2 FG, 2-2 FT) and five rebounds.
- Freshman Ethan Okwuosa (No. Haven, Conn.) also added four points (2-6 FG) to go with a pair of boards.
- Bentley outshot SNHU, 46.2 percent (36-78) to 43.9 percent (29-66), including 46.4 percent (13-28) to 43.8 percent (7-16) from beyond the arc.
- The Penmen were plus-5 from the stripe and shot it better, 87.5 percent (14-16) to 69.2 percent (9-13).
- Bentley won the glass (40-32), featured a better assist-to-turnover ratio (14/7-8/5), scored more second chance points (17-7) and received more bench scoring (16-8), while SNHU captured the paint (44-38) and scored more on the fast break (10-3).
NOTES
- After starting 4-0, Southern New Hampshire has lost two-in-a-row.
- Bentley leads the all-time series with SNHU, 29-27, with the teams splitting the last six meetings, as well as the last eight hookups in Waltham.
