Junior George Thurston (Plymouth, Mass.) scored twice and assisted on another goal as SNHU Ice Hockey rocked Franklin Pierce 8-1 on Friday night in the NE10 Conference opener.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Penmen scored the first goal at 6:06 of the first period when Ring's shot from the top of the left circle hit the pipe and went in.
- SNHU extended the lead to 4-0 on goals by Fiorino, Cox, and Ryan Coady before the end of the period. Coady's rebound shot came on a power play to make it 4-0.
- Thurston's two goals came in the second period wrapped around a goal by the Ravens to extend the lead to 6-1. Â
- Gray forced a turnover, took the puck the other way, and buried a shot from the left circle for a 7-1 lead.
- The Penmen capped the night with a goal at 10:12 on the third period that started with a pass from the goalie, Mercer, to DiMambro. His shot attempt was blocked but teed up by Aldrich for the final goal.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Penmen had a 54-26 shot advantage in the contest. Mercer made 25 saves for SNHU.
- SNHUÂ went 2-for-6 on the power play, while the Ravens were 0-for-7.

- This was the first of three meetings between the teams this season.  The Penmen lead the all-time series 32-15-9.
