Senior Grace Pierce (Fairfax, Va.) registered a career-high 12 kills to help lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team to a 3-2 victory against Mercy College on Tuesday at the Stan Spirou Field House. Set scores were 25-18, 21-25, 25-19, 22-25, 18-16.

KEY MOMENTS
- Mercy led, 9-7, in the deciding set when four kills from Pacini powered a 6-1 flurry that put the Penmen in front, 13-10. The Mavericks charged back, with three straight kills from Nilka Rivera Maldonado sparking a 4-0 run that put the visitors back in the lead at 14-13. A pair of attack errors would put SNHU at match point, but Mercy would tie it at 15-all. The score was still tied, 16-16, when kills from Thawnghmung and Pacini ended it.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Junior Ainsley Knox (Houston, Texas) chipped in eight assists and three digs.
- SNHU outhit Mercy in the three sets it won, as well as .176-.112 for the match.
- The Mavericks edged the Penmen in both blocks (5-4) and aces (9-8).
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire's 4-3 start is its best since the 2015 campaign.
- SNHU remains perfect at 5-0 all-time against Mercy.
- Fontaine also reached 10 kills twice in 2019.
