Junior Taylor Marchman (Derry, N.H.) gained the equalizer with less than six seconds remaining in the third quarter, but No. 9 Southern New Hampshire University would suffer a 3-2 loss in its season opener Thursday evening, as American International College struck in the final minutes of regulation to secure the win.

KEY MOMENTS
  • Senior Emily Campbell (Raynham, Mass.) drew Southern New Hampshire even with 1:55 to play in the third when she redirected a shot from junior Sofie Wolters (Schilde, Belgium) that found the back of the net to make it 1-1.
  • After AIC seized a 2-1 edge with 36 ticks on the clock in the third, Marchman struck just 30 seconds later to even the score.
  • Na'Bree Wallace gave the Yellow Jackets the lead for good with 5:00 on the clock in the fourth quarter.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Graduate student Kate Pigsley (E. Kingston, N.H.) made three saves for the Penmen in her first career start, while Jessica Stone turned aside seven of the nine shots that came her way for AIC.
  • Shots were even at 11-all, with Southern New Hampshire holding a 9-5 advantage in the middle two stanzas.
  • The Penmen also owned a slight 5-4 edge in penalty corners.
