#13 Women's Soccer Soars to 7-0 with 1-0 Edging of Southern Connecticut

Graduate student Allyson Patterson (Seekonk, Mass.) buried a goal in the 62nd minute to send the 13th-ranked Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon at Penmen Stadium.

KEY MOMENTS
  • Patterson provided the Penmen all the offense they would need at the 61:11 mark when she corralled a pass from Butters, split two defenders and sent a boot into the top left corner of the net.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Southern Connecticut 'keeper Allie Smith stopped seven of the eight shots she faced.
  • The Penmen outshot the Owls, 15-8, including 8-3 in shots on target.
  • SNHU also owned a 5-1 advantage on corner kicks.
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire begins the season 7-0 for the first time since the 1994 campaign.
  • SNHU leads the all-time series 12-10-5. The Penmen are unbeaten in the last seven contests against the Owls and have won four straight in the series. SNHU has also won four straight at home against SCSU dating back to 2016.
  • Patterson leads the team in goals (4) and points (8).
  • The shutout for Rose is her second of the season, while it is the fifth team shutout for SNHU.
