Junior Isabella Andrade (Cochabamba, Bolivia) was one of three Penmen to not drop a game in singles play, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team came away with a 7-0 victory against crosstown-rival Saint Anselm College on Tuesday afternoon at the South Athletic Field Tennis Courts.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Andrade was a 6-0, 6-0 winner against Abigail Svor at No. 5 singles and also secured a 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles with sophomore Guntra Upeniece (Riga, Latvia) against Anastasia Kapothanasis and Julia Svor.
- Upeniece shut out Julia Svor, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6 singles.
- Senior Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) recorded a 6-3. 6-4 win at No. 1 singles against Irene Garbo. She also combined with graduate student Alexxa Etienne (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) to blank Garbo and Olivia Parzick, 6-0, at No. 1 doubles.
- Etienne breezed by Parzick, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3 singles.
- Freshman Alina Kupfer (Munich, Germany) defeated Kapothanasis, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles, in addition to teaming with grad student Verena Weindl (Munich, Germany) at No. 2 doubles for a 6-2 win against Abigail Svor and Camila Heredia Osante.
- Weindl toppled Heredia Osante, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 4 singles.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire begins the season 9-0 for the first time in program history,
- The Penmen lead the all-time series with Saint Anselm, 21-5, and have now won 21-in-a-row versus the Hawks.
- Hubickova improves to 8-1 at No. 1 singles this season, while Kupfer is now a perfect 9-0 at No. 2 singles.
- SNHU earns two points in the Queen City Cup standings and now leads, 4-2, in the battle for Manchester supremacy.
