Graduate student Katherine Dubois (Manchester, N.H.) played in her first collegiate match and secured a No. 4 singles win, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team rolled to 6-0 with a 7-0 shutout of American International College on Sunday afternoon at the Penmen Stadium Tennis Courts.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Dubois recorded a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Charlotte Tvelia at No. 4 singles.
- Senior Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) posted a 6-1, 6-2 win against Natalija Vlacic at No. 1 singles and also worked with graduate student Alexxa Etienne (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) to blank Vlacic and Victoria Azcona, 6-0, at No. 1 doubles.
- Freshman Alina Kupfer (Munich, Germany) defeated Azcona, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 2 singles. She and grad student Verena Weindl (Munich, Germany) also silenced Maria Cedeno and Tvelia, 6-0, at No. 2 doubles.
- Sophomore Katelyn Nichols (Manchester, N.H.) wrapped things up with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph versus Cedeno at No. 3 singles.
- Junior Isabella Andrade (Cochabamba, Bolivia) and sophomore Guntra Upeniece (Riga, Latvia) each won by default at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, as well as together at No. 3 doubles.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire begins the season 6-0 for the first time since the 2013-14 campaign.
- The Penmen improve to a perfect 21-0 all-time against AIC.
- Hubickova is a perfect 6-0 at No. 1 singles this season, while Kupfer is also 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
