Women's Soccer Earns NE10 Postseason Berth with 2-1 Win at Bentley

Senior Victoria Roulston (E. Falmouth, Mass.) and freshman Arianna Georgantas (W. Bridgewater, Mass.) scored goals in the back-half of the opening stanza, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team notched a had-to-have-it 2-1 victory at Bentley University to extend its season Wednesday afternoon at the Bentley Soccer Field.

KEY MOMENTS 
  • Bentley grabbed a 1-0 lead 11:33 into the contest on a Sydney O'Connor goal.
  • Roulston tied it in the final second of the 27th minute off a Beaumont assist.
  • Georgantas scored what proved to be the game winner 5:27 before halftime, with grad student Anne Sikkema (Leeuwarden, Netherlands) and Beaumont picking up helpers.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Bentley 'keeper Claire Ewen made one save.
  • Bentley outshot SNHU, 23-9, including 10-3 in shots on target.
  • The Falcons also owned an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.
NOTES 
  • Southern New Hampshire punches its ticket to the NE10 Championship, claiming the No. 8 seed, and will go on the road to the top seed for a quarterfinal matchup on Sunday (Oct. 30). The College of Saint Rose will earn the top seed with a win against Adelphi University later Wednesday, while Franklin Pierce University would be the No. 1 seed with a Saint Rose loss or tie.
  • SNHU, which leads the all-time series with Bentley, 17-7-3, is 11-2-3 in the last 16 meetings between the two squads.
  • Roulston's goal is her third of the season and the fourth of her career, while Georgantas' tally is her second with the Penmen.
  • The Penmen are now 44-17-13 (.682) over their last 74 matches dating back to the start of the 2017 campaign.
