Women's Soccer's Run In NE10 Championship Ends at #1 Saint Rose

Southern New Hampshire's run in the Northeast-10 Women's Soccer Championship has come to an end after a 3-0 loss at top-seed Saint Rose on Sunday afternoon in Albany, N.Y. 
 
KEY MOMENTS
  • The Golden Knights scored in the opening moments when a deep throw in to the center field found a couple of heads, with Carolyn Brussel's tip finding the top of the net.
  • Graduate student Hannah Rose (Waterloo, Ont.) made five saves in the first half, including a tip over the goal on a close-in shot with about 15 minutes to the half.
  • Saint Rose was able to extend the lead to 2-0 just a minute later when Emilie Kristensen found the top of the net.
  • Mia Klammer made it 3-0 for Saint Rose at 34:50, converting a turnover into her seventh goal of the season.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • SNHU had a 19-4 shot advantage, including 10-1 on goal.
  • The Golden Knights had a 7-3 advantage on corner kicks.
  • The Penmen played the final 21:27 short-handed after a collision resulted in a red card.
NOTES
  • SNHU is 9-15-5 all-time against Saint Rose, including a 1-1 tie earlier this season.
  • The #7 nationally ranked Golden Knights entered the NE10 Championship with an unbeaten record of 14-0-3 through the regular season, including a 9-0-3 mark within the conference.  They will host #5 Saint Anselm College on Thursday in the semifinals.
  • The Penmen are now 44-18-13 (.673) over their last 75 matches dating back to the start of the 2017 campaign.   They have made seven consecutive appearances in the NE10 Championships.
  • Junior Nida Orloff (Leicester, Mass.), who did not play Sunday, finished as the team's leading goal scorer with four.  She tied for a team-high 10 points with senior Allison Beaumont (Milton, Ont.).
  • Rose started 15 of the 16 games for the Penmen in net, allowing 18 goals and compiling a 5-5-5 record.
