Penmen Win Third Straight with Overtime Thriller at Southern Connecticut

Freshman Bernardita Diaz De Vivar (Buenos Aires, Argentina) scored off a penalty corner in overtime to lift SNHU to its third straight win, 2-1 at Southern Connecticut Saturday.  Freshman Brianna Frisbee (Claremont, N.H.) scored her first career goal and set up the game-winner.

KEY MOMENTS
 
  • The Penmen took a 1-0 lead 3:07 into the second quarter.  Christis sent a ball on net that freshman Frisbee tipped in for her first career goal.
  • The Owls drew even in the third quarter on a score by Trinidad Rodriguez-Ricchiuti.
  • SNHU's game-winner came with 3:30 to play in the overtime.  Frisbee started the penalty corner with a pass to Bates, who tapped the ball to Diaz De Vivar.  Her one-timer found the cage.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • SNHU had a 16-12 shot advantage, including 9-8 on goal.
  • The Owls had 13 penalty corners, to seven for the Penmen.
NOTES
  • Christis now has 17 points to lead the Penmen (five goals, seven assists).
  • SNHU has won six straight against the Owls, and lead the all-time series 6-2.
  • The Penmen have won three consecutive games for the first time this season.

  • SNHU will visit Assumption on Wednesday (7 p.m.) in an NE10 conference contest.
