Ryan Pomposelli (Needham, Mass.) potted a pair of goals, including one late in the third period, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's ice hockey team had its rally fall short in a 4-3 loss to Post University on Saturday afternoon at The Ice Den.

KEY MOMENTS
- Post opened the scoring with a back-breaker of a goal with 5.7 seconds left on the clock in the first period, as Tommy Buis made it 1-0 for the visitors on the man-advantage.
- Niko Grollman gave the Eagles a commanding 3-0 lead at the 7:55 mark of the second stanza with a pair of goals just 19 seconds apart.
- Pomposelli put the Penmen on the board and let the Teddy Bears rain down with a power-play strike with 6:28 remaining in the middle period. Sophomore Ryan Clear (Cherry Hill, N.J.) picked up an assist on the play.
- Post re-gained the three-goal advantage with 2:51 to play before the second intermission on a Brandon Crowther power-play goal.
- SNHU took advantage of a 5-on-3 to start the final frame, as Thurston buried one just 40 seconds in to pull the Penmen within two at 4-2.
- With the Penmen on the power play, they pulled the goalie to skate 6-on-4 and it was Pomposelli again, scoring with 3:35 remaining to make it a one-goal game. Flynn and sophomore Jack Gray (Lowell, Mass.) collected helpers.

- Graduate student Adam Mercer (Belchertown, Mass.) turned aside 37 shots, including 30 over the final two periods.
- Post goalie Benjamin Cuneen racked up 47 saves.
- SNHU outshot Post, 50-41 for the game.
- The Penmen went 3-for-9 on the power-play, while the Eagles were 2-for-7.
NOTES
- Pomposelli's goals were his first with the Penmen.
- Thurston's tally was his team-leading fourth of the season and 37th of his career.
- Thurston has now scored 25 power-play goals in his 52-game career with the Penmen.
- SNHU leads the all-time series with Post 13-4, with the Eagles winning two of the last three.
- After the first Penmen goal, SNHU held its annual Teddy Bear Toss, donating all of the bears thrown on the ice, as well as nearly $200, to both Manchester PAL and Jaime's Joy.
