Adriana Timberlake (Braintree, Mass.) scored 14 points, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team erased a second-half deficit and held off Southern Connecticut State University over the final two minutes to score a 58-55 victory Saturday at the Moore Field House.

KEY MOMENTS
- Southern New Hampshire jumped out to a 9-2 lead over the opening 4:35 before Southern Connecticut scored 11 straight to close the quarter and give the Owls a 13-9 advantage.
- SCSU made it 17-in-a-row, scoring the first six of the second stanza to open its lead up to 19-9 less than two-and-a-half minutes in. The margin was still 10 later on when an 11-3 counter-run from SNHU trimmed its deficit to 27-25 with 1:43 left before halftime. Timberlake netted the first eight points of the run. The Owls would go into the break with a 30-25 lead.
- Southern Connecticut led, 38-35, a little over five minutes into the second half when SNHU ripped off 11 straight to grab a 46-38 advantage with 2:38 remaining in the third quarter. Koivisto had four points during the stretch, while Gordon and junior Julia Colby (So. Parris, Maine) each added three. The Owls responded with eight-in-a-row as part of a 10-2 run to cap the quarter and the teams were tied, 48-48.
- Big 3-pointers from graduate student Mia Roy (Bedford, N.H.) and Timberlake to begin the final frame staked the Penmen to a 54-48 lead just 1:32 in. SCSU would score the next seven to take a one-point lead with 3:37 left, but back-to-back buckets from Koivisto and Gordon flipped SNHU back in front, 58-55, with 2:12 on the clock. The Penmen would hold the Owls to 0-for-4 from beyond the arc over the final 1:53 to seal the victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Senior Jenna Roche (Braintree, Mass.) chipped in four points (1-3 FG, 2-2 FT), three rebounds and a pair of assists.
- Freshman Emily Greenwood (Manchester, N.H.) netted five points (1-2 FG, 1-1 3-FG, 2-2 FT).
- Roy tallied three points (1-6 FG, 1-2 3-FG), two rebounds and three assists.
- Colby added three points (1-5 FG, 1-2 3-FG).
- Southern Connecticut outshot SNHU, 37.3 percent (19-51) to 32.3 percent (20-62), but the Penmen shot it better from deep, 43.8 percent (7-16) to 15.4 percent (2-13), and from the line, 84.6 percent (11-13) to 71.4 percent (15-21).
- The Penmen won the glass (38-31), featured a slightly better assist-to-turnover ratio (10/13-8/11) and collected more second chance points (12-6), while the Owls captured the paint (30-18) and scored more points off turnovers (18-11).
NOTES
- SNHU trails in the all-time series with the Owls, 40-29, despite having won five of the last seven meetings, as well as three of the last four on the road.
