SNHU Completes Season Sweep of Post University

Penmen Top Eagles 5-3 In Tuesday Make-Up Game

(Shelton, Conn.)  --- Five different SNHU players scored as the Penmen completed a regular-season sweep of Post University with a 5-3 win on Tuesday afternoon in Shelton, Conn.  Junior George Thurston (Plymouth, Mass.) notched his league-leading 14th goal and added an assist in the win.

KEY MOMENTS
  • Fiorino opened the scoring for the Penmen at 5:23 of the first period, burying a slap shot after senior Travis Quigley (North Babylon, N.Y.) dug the puck off the boards. Freshman Ryan Clear (Cherry Hill, N.J.) also earned an assist
  • The Eagles rallied to take the lead at 2-1 before Thurston scored at 16:00 of the second period cleaning up a rebound off a shot by senior Alex Ring (Salem, N.H.).
  • Coady scored his third goal of the season put the Penmen up 3-2 at 12:35 of the third period off a face-off win by Thurston deep in the Eagle zone.
  • Ray's goal at 14:53 gave the Penmen a 4-2 advantage, set up by freshman Connor Ball (Webster, N.Y.).
  • Post cut the lead to 4-3 at 17:14 on a goal by Brandon Crowther.
  • Somerville potted an empty-net goal for the Penmen at 18:54 to help secure the win.  Senior Phil Heisse (Overland Park, Kan.) earned the assist.
  • INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Penmen had a 35-32 advantage .on shots on goal
  • SNHU went 0-for-6 on the power play, while the Eagles were 2-for-6. 
  • Post had a 37-31 advatange on faceoffs.
  • NOTES
  • The Penmen completed a three-game sweep of Post in 2021-2022 and SNHU leads the all-time series 12-2.
  • Senior Adam Mercer (Belchertown, Mass.) improved to 8-1-0 on the season, making 29 saves.
