JT Kossakowski (Elburn, Ill.) stopped 45 shots, and nearly recorded his first shutout, but Saint Anselm College scored a goal late, and won in overtime 2-1 over SNHU on Friday night at The Ice Den.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Kossakowski - 45 saves, including 25 in the second period
- Junior George Thurston (Plymouth, Mass.) scored his 18th goal of the season for the Penmen.
- Saint Anselm freshman Chase Reynolds tallied both goals for the Hawks.
KEY MOMENTS
- Thurston put the Penmen in front 1-0 at 17:12 of the first period. Junior Tim Usalis (Danvers, Mass.) sent a long pass along the left board to senior Jake Cox (Columbus, Georgia) who centered the pass to Thurston.
- SNHU held the Hawks scoreless until a Saint Anselm power-play goal at 15:38 of the final period. Reynolds tipped in a slap shot from defenseman Jack Murphy.
- Reynolds also scored the game-winner with 45.3 seconds left in the 3-on-3 overtime period.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Saint Anselm outshot SNHU 47-40 in the game.
- The Hawks had a 40-30 advantage on face-offs.
- Saint Anselm went 1-for-7 on the power-play. The Penmen were 0-for-5.
NOTES
- The Penmen lost for the first time in overtime. SNHU had won its two previous OT games, including 3-2 on Wednesday at Stonehill that clinched the regular-season title in the Northeast-10.
- The Penmen and Hawks play the rubber-game of the season-series tomorrow with a pair of Queen City Cup points on the line. SNHU currently leads the season-long competition 13-7.
- It was Senior Night at the Ice Den with 11 players honored with family and friends prior to the contest.

- SNHU will conclude its regular-season on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at Saint Anselm College.
- The Penmen will return to The Ice Den for an NE10 semifinal game on Tues. March 1 at 7:40 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.
