Women's Lacrosse Tops Saint Rose 10-9 in Double Overtime

Albany, N.Y. -- Senior Kathleen Crowther (Wrentham, Mass.) tallied two goals and assisted on three others, and sophomore Shelby Cole (Gilford, N.H.) scored the game-winner in the second overtime as SNHU defeated St. Rose 10-9 on Tuesday afternoon in Albany, N.Y. 
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS 
  • Crowther - 2 goals, 3 assists
  • Cole – 2 goals, 2 assists
  • Junior Angelina Graziano (Riverhead, N.Y.) – 2 goals
  • Junior Skyler Renaud (E. Waterboro, Maine) - 2 goals
  • Senior Caela McCartney (Arvada, Colo.) - 6 saves
KEY MOMENTS 
  • The Penmen would play from the lead for most of well-contested first half, taking a 6-4 lead to the break.  Graziano scored her two goals in the second quarter, including one with 38 seconds left.
  • When SNHU senior Erin Gorton (Kennebunk, Maine) scored with 11:11 to play in the third quarter, the Penmen had a 7-4 lead.
  • The Golden Knights would chip away, and eventually take a 9-8 lead with 3:36 to go as Deanna Ciliento scored her third goal of the game.
  • The Penmen tied the contest with 1:13 to go when freshman Madison Keating (Milford, N.H.) took a pass from Crowther near the net and scored to make it 9-9.
  • Cole's game-winner came just over a minute into the second overtime.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • Saint Rose had a 29-28 shot advantage, but the Penmen had more shots on goal, 17-15.
  • The Golden Knights had a 34-20 advatange on groundballs, and 13-11 in draw controls.
  • The Penmen converted 2-of-5 free position shot opportunities.
NOTES 
  • Cole leads SNHU with 10 goals and 4 assists (14 points).
  • This was the first meeting between the schools.  Saint Rose played its first games in the spring of 2020.
  • The Penmen are off to a 3-1 start for the first time since the 2017.
