Renaud, Cole Lift Women's Lacrosse to 16-15 Win Over Franklin Pierce

The Penmen improved to 4-1 on the season

Hooksett, N.H. – Junior Skyler Renaud (E. Waterboro, Maine) netted six goals and added an assist, while sophomore Shelby Cole (Gilford, N.H.) tallied 10 points on five goals and five assists in SNHU's 16-15 win over in-state rival Franklin Pierce on Saturday afternoon at Penmen Stadium. 
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS  KEY MOMENTS 
  • In an even-played first quarter FPU held a slim 5-4 lead. 
  • The Ravens opened the second quarter scoring three-straight goals to take an 8-4 lead at 12:09. The Penmen responded with four-straight of their own to tie it at 8-8 with 3:23 left in the half. The teams each tacked on a goal to send the teams into half knotted at 9-9.
  • In a low-scoring third quarter it was SNHU getting the better of play outscoring the Ravens 3-1 in the frame to take a 12-10 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • SNHU extended its lead to 15-11 with 11:11 left in the quarter, but FPU answered with three-straight to trim the lead to 15-14 at 6:19. Cole netted the eventual game-winner at 3:21, while the Ravens got one back at 1:03, but could not net the equalizer in the game's final minute.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • SNHU had a 43-37 shot advantage, but the Penmen had more shots on goal, 17-15.
  • The Penmen had a 19-13 advantage on groundballs.
NOTES 
  • SNHU captured its first win over the Ravens since 2018.
  • The 16 goals match a season high for the Penmen.
  • SNHU had a season high 43 shots and 34 shots on goal.
  • The six goals and seven posts were both season highs for Renaud.
  • The Penmen are off to a 4-1 start for the first time since the 2017.

  • SNHU will be back home on Wednesday (March 30) at 3 p.m. to play host to Queen City rival St. Anselm College.
