(Hooksett, N.H.) – Adelphi University captured a doubleheader sweep of SNHU softball on Sunday afternoon at SNHU Softball Field. The Panthers used a strong pitching effort in game one for the 3-2 win and in game two it was the bats that exploded for an 8-0 win in six innings.

GAME 1
  • After two scoreless innings it was the Panthers that broke through the two runs on four hits in the top of the third.
  • Adelphi added a single run in the fifth to make it 3-0.
  • AU's Claire Fon (8-3) was tossing a no-hitter through four and a third before the Penmen through the ice pushing across a pair of runs on a two-out, two-run single by junior Abi Gray (Litchfield, N.H.). SNHU would leave a pair of runners on base, but cut it to 3-2 after five.
  • Lindsey Hibbs (3) shut the door in relief for the Panthers seven in a row to close out the game and preserve the victory.
  • SNHU sophomore Leine McKechnie (Passadumkeag, Maine) went the distance for the Penmen. She allowed three earned runs on seven hits and struck out three. She moves to 1-2 on the season.
  • Autumn Stevens (Nottingham, N.H.) registered the Penmen's only other hit as a pinch hitter in the two-run fifth inning.
GAME 2
  • The Panthers opened with single run in the first.
  • Adelphi opened up a big lead with a five-run second inning with the big blow being a three-run home run by Courtney Wengryn.
  • The Panthers scratched across a single run in the fourth and sixth innings to account for their eight runs.
  • SNHU broke up the no-hitter on a fifth inning double by Brittany Mota (Lowell, Mass.).
  • Alyssa Dimauro (Chester, N.H.) hit a sixth-inning single for SNHU's only other hit in the contest.
  • Graduate student Chloe Griffin (Scarborough, Maine) started and allowed six runs, all earned, on seven hits; including three extra base hits.
