Sam Henrie (Middleboro, Mass.) each homered twice as SNHU won the first game of a doubleheader 15-4 against Felician University. Rivera homered again in the second game as the Penmen rallied for a 13-7 win to sweep the doubleheader played in Flemington, N.J.
GAME 1:
- Redshirt sophomore Danniel Rivera (New Britain, Conn.) opened the game with a home run for the second time this season, and the Penmen added three more on bases-loaded walks to graduate student Idelson Taveras (Lawrence, Mass.) and redshirt freshman Dylan O'Sullivan (Manchester, N.H.), and an RBI single by senior Ricky Jimenez (Miami, Fla.).
- Senior Dakota Mulcay (Goffstown, N.H.) doubled to left center with two outs in the second inning, scoring on a single by redshirt sophomore Cam Caraher (Plymouth, Mass.) for a 5-0 lead.
- The Penmen all but put the game away with six more runs in the top of the sixth inning for an 11-0 lead. A three-run homer by Rivera, his second of the game, made it 8-0. Senior Sam Henrie (Middleboro, Mass.) hit a solo shot for the ninth run, and O'Sullivan and Jimenez added run-scoring singles.
- Henrie homered again in the seventh inning, redshirt freshman Anderson Moreno (Brooklyn, N.Y.) doubled in a run in the ninth, and redshirt sophomore Ryan Baumann (Brookhaven, N.Y.) added a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning.
- Graduate student Josh Roberge (Chelmsford, Mass.) got some revenge on the Golden Falcons. He was losing pitcher in the season opener February 18 in Myrtle Beach in a game Felician won 5-4. This time, Roberge (1-1) worked seven shutout innings, allowing five hits, walking two while strikeout out nine. Redshirt sophomore Griffin Gilbert (Concord, N.H.) struck out three in a 1.3 innings of scoreless relief.
GAME 2:
- Caraher homered in top of the second inning to give the Penmen a 1-0 lead in the second game.
- Felician then put seven runs on the board---including five in the second - to take a 7-2 lead.
- The Penmen rallied to tie with six runs in the top of the fourth inning, which included an RBI singles by Taveras and redshirt sophomore Nick Schwartz (Massapequa, N.Y.), a two-run single by junior Kieran Dowd (E. Islip, N.Y.) and a two-run homer by Rivera.
- SNHU pulled in front with a four-run fifth inning, which included another RBI for Caraher, and a three-run homer for O'Sullivan.
- Dowd and Henrie would add Penmen runs with doubles.
- Redshirt junior George Welch (Derry, N.H.) improved to 2-0 with 3.1 innings of scoreless relief. Redshirt freshman Conner Wagstaff (Ellsworth, Maine) and freshman Frankie Sanchez (Kendall Park, N.J.) each worked scoreless relief for SNHU.
NOTES
- Rivera hit four home runs all of last season, while driving in 21. In the first seven games of this year, he's hit four homers.
- SNHU scored 77 runs over the first seven games, hitting .361.
- The Penmen lead the all-time series with Felician 22-3.
