The Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team won at five of six singles en route to a 5-2 win over the University of Mary on Saturday in Orlando, Fla.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Junior Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) at number 2 singles won by a score of 7-5, 6-2 to clinch the win for the Penmen. She also won 6-1 at number two doubles with junior Isabella Andrade (Cochabamba, Bolivia). Although the team did not earn the doubles point dropping matches at 1 & 3 doubles.
- Graduate student Natalie Kallmunzerova (Prague, Czech Republic) earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles.
- Andrade (6-2, 6-4 @ No. 4) sophomore Guntra Upeniece (Riga, Latvia; 6-2, 6-2 @ No. 5), senior Elizabeth Dwyer (Cutchogue, N.Y.; 6-0, 6-2 @ No. 6) all won their respective singles matches.
- Senior Alexxa Etienne (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) drop her singles match by narrow margins of 7-6, 7-6.
NOTES
- SNHU has won six of its last seven matches and 10 of 12 overall.
- This was the first ever meeting between SNHU and UMary.
- Kallmunzerova is 17-0 in singles play to begin the season.
