(Pomona, N.Y.) – Redshirt sophomore Cam Caraher went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI as #11 SNHU won a 12th straight game, 10-6 at Saint Thomas Aquinas College.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Penmen hit a pair of solo home runs in the top of the third inning to score the first runs of the game. Caraher and senior Sam Henrie (Middleboro, Mass.) each went deep.
After the Spartans picked up a run, SNHU extended the lead in the fourth inning. The frame started with a single by redshirt junior Alex Kennedy (Braintree, Mass.) and freshman Anthony Poole (S. Portland, Maine) walked. Senior Ricky Jimenez (Miami, Fla.) drove in a run with a double, and graduate student Idelson Taveras (Lawrence, Mass.) walked. Caraher doubled to drive in two more runs, and redshirt sophomore Cristian Mercedes (Providene, R.I.) hit a sacrifice fly to make it 6-1.
The Penmen extended the lead to 8-2 in the top of the seventh with a two-run single by senior Dakota Mulcay (Goffstown, N.H.)
After St. Thomas scored four in the bottom of the seventh, Caraher delivered his fourth RBI of the game with a single to make it 9-6.
Redshirt freshman John Chacho (Seymouth, Conn.) added an RBI triple in the top of the ninth.
On the mound, five Penmen pitched in the game. Redshirt freshman Conner Wagstaff (Ellsworth, Maine), redshirt sophomore Griffin Gilbert (Concord, N.H.), redshirt junior George Welch (Derry, N.H.), graduate student Preston Yerrington (Manchester, N.H.) and redshirt junior Ricky Alexy (Needham, Mass.).
Gilbert (2.0 IP – 1 ER) won to improve to 2-1. Alexy picked up his first save, and fourth in an SNHU uniform.

NOTES

SNHU, on a 12-game win streak, is ranked 11th in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Poll and still sits atop the NCBWA East Region Poll.
The Penmen improve to 13-7 against the Spartans, winning all three contests this season.
Henrie's home run was his ninth, which leads the Penmen in 2022. He is also the team-leader with 35 RBI, and is hitting .347.

SNHU will open a four-game NE10 Conference series at Franklin Pierce Friday at 6 p.m. in Rindge.
