Rindge, N.H. – Graduate student Josh Roberge (Chelmsford, Mass.) allowed one run on five hits tossing a complete game and leading the Penmen baseball team to a 2-1 win in game two and helping earn a split in a twin-billing against Franklin Pierce University on Saturday at Pappas Field. The Ravens won game one 4-3.

Game 1
  • The Ravens jumped out to a 2-0 lead on an RBI ground out and a steal of home plate.
  • The Penmen answered with a single run in the second and two runs in the third to make it 3-2.
  • FPU responded with two runs of its own in the home half of the third to regain the 4-3 advantage.
  • Patrick Hannon improved to 6-1 for the Ravens. He allowed three runs on six hits over five innings. Hunter Reynolds tossed two perfect innings in relief to earn his third save.
  • Redshirt sophomore Brandon White (Simsbury, Conn.) allowed four runs, all earned, on five hits. He walked five, hit two and struck out two.
  • Redshirt sophomore Nick Schwartz (Massapequa, N.Y.) went 1-for-3 with an RBI, while senior Dakota Mulcay (Goffstown, N.H.) went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
Game 2
  • Both starters were excellent in the early going as the first hit game in the bottom of the fourth inning. While FPU got the first it, it was the Penmen that did the first damage, scoring a run on three hits in the top of the fifth. John Chacho (Seymour, Conn.) led off the inning with a single and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by senior Sam Henrie (Middleboro, Mass.).
  • The Ravens answered with a Charles Lebron home run in the home half of the fifth inning.
  • SNHU threatened in the sixth inning, but left runners on second and third. However, in the top of the seventh, sophomore Cristian Mercedes (Providence, R.I) singled to the right side. Henrie singled through the left side and Schwartz moved the runners up with a groundout. After a pitching change, the Ravens intentionally walked Mulcay to get to sophomore Cam Caraher (Plymouth, Mass.). Caraher drew a walk to force in Mercedes with the game-winning run.
  • Roberge fanned nine and allowed just a single run on five hits in a seven-inning complete game to move to 6-3. His counterpart Chaz Powell went 5.1 allowing one run on four hits. Jake Ursillo picked up the loss allowing a run on two hits in 1.1 innings of work.
