Cole Leads Women's Lacrosse to 15-5 Win Over Southern Connecticut

Hooksett, N.H. – Sophomore Shelby Cole (Gilford, N.H.) matched a career high with five goals to lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's lacrosse team to a 15-5 win over Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon at Penmen Stadium.

KEY MOMENTS 
  • The Penmen controlled pace in the first quarter taking a 4-0 lead and holding a 9-2 shot advantage.
  • The second quarter was much more even-played after some adjustments getting it to as close as 5-3, but SNHU still outscored the Owls 5-4 in the frame to take a 9-4 lead into halftime.
  • SNHU seized control of the game by scoring the next five goals and six of the final seven goals to run away with a 15-5 victory.
  • The Penmen led throughout with zero lead changes or ties.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
  • SNHU had a 25-22 shot advantage.
  • The Owls had a 19-16 advantage on groundballs.
NOTES 
  • It's the third time this season Cole has netted five goals (3/26, 4/2). She leads the team in points (38) and goals (28).
  • The Penmen were receiving votes in the most recent IWLCA Coaches' Poll.
  • SNHU is currently in sixth place in the NE10 standings after seven games play.
