Junior Megan Wessner (Pine Grove, Pa.) buried a one-timer from 25 yards out in the 67th minute to lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team to a season-opening 1-0 victory over the University of Bridgeport on Sunday afternoon at the Southern Connecticut State Season Opening Classic in New Haven.

KEY MOMENTS
- Noon dribbled into the right corner and Bridgeport failed to clear her centering pass. Wessner's left-footed blast found the net for the game's only goal. It was Wessner's first career goal, and first assist for Noon.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Rose made seven saves for her 16th career shutout. Her overall record for the Penmen improved to 30-13.
- Bridgeport goalkeeper Helena Dahlstrom made six saves.
- SNHU outshot the Purple Knights, 16-12, including 8-7 on shots that went on frame.

- Southern New Hampshire begins the season 1-0 for the third straight season and the fourth time in the last five campaigns.
