Junior Isabella Andrade (Cochabamba, Bolivia) recorded a No. 5 singles win to clinch the match, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team scored a huge, 5-2 victory against defending NE10 Regular-Season Champion Le Moyne College on Sunday afternoon at the Penmen Stadium Tennis Courts.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Andrade downed Francesca Lilliegren, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 5 singles.
- Senior Magdalena Hubickova (Prague, Czech Republic) glided past Isabella Barone, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 1 singles and also combined with graduate student Alexxa Etienne (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) to edge Lilliegren and Barona, 6-4, at No. 2 doubles.
- Freshman Alina Kupfer (Munich, Germany) defeated Stella Simeonova, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 2 singles. She also toppled Simeonova and Fiona Pepper, 6-2, at No. 2 doubles with graduate student Verena Weindl (Munich, Germany).
- Sophomore Guntra Upeniece (Riga, Latvia) notched a 6-2, 7-5 win over Pepper at No. 6 singles.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire begins the season 2-0 for the third straight year.
- The Penmen, who lead the all-time series with Le Moyne, 12-10, had lost four of the last five meetings.
- The previous home win for SNHU against the Dolphins came Sept. 16, 2016 (8-1).
