Graduate student Adam Mercer (Belchertown, Mass.) stopped 36 shots, but SNHU ice hockey dropped a 1-0 decision to Assumption University on Saturday night at The Ice Den.

KEY MOMENTS
 

• Neither team scored in a relatively quiet first period in which the Penmen had a 10-8 shot advantage.  The only penalty of the period was on Assumption.
• The game's lone score came at 6:27 of the second period.  William Roberts won a faceoff in the Penmen zone and sent the puck to Thomas McGaffigan.  A pass to Camron Roberts set up his game-winner slap shot.
• Mercer stopped 18 shots in the middle period, but SNHU did not cash in on its one power-play opportunity in the second.
• SNHU outshot Assumption 17-10 in the third period and had two power plays.

 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
 

• Assumption outshot the Penmen for the game 37-34.
• The Penmen, who scored three power-play goals in Friday's game, went 0-for-4 for the contest.  The Greyhounds were 0-for-2.
• Assumption had a 37-20 advantage on face-offs.

 
NOTES

• SNHU has dropped four consecutive games and has scored only four total goals in those contests. 
• The Penmen are now 40-38-5 all-time against Assumption.    The teams will meet in Worcester to close the regular season on Feb. 17-18.
