Bates' OT Game Winner Lifts Field Hockey at Bentley

SNHU Improves to 5-3 in NE10 play

Junior Eliza Bates (Newport, N.H.) scored twice, including the game-winner in overtime, as SNHU field hockey won at Bentley University 2-1 on Wednesday night.

KEY MOMENTS
  • Bentley took a 1-0 lead at 4:31 on a goal by Gracie Moore.
  • The Penmen drew even on a Bates goal 2:45 into the final period when she found a loose ball near the Falcon cage. 
  • The game-winner with 2:31 to play in overtime, started with a penalty corner.  Bates inserted to Christis, who exchanged passes with sophomore Anne Wiersma (Veldhoven, Netherlands) before sending it over to Bates for the shot.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Bentley had a 15-8 shot advantage and a 15-5 edge on penalty corners.
  • The Penmen were outshot 8-0 in the first half and Bentley's Mia Trottie did not record a save until 33:10 on a shot by Christis.
NOTES
  • Bates takes over the team lead with 13 points on five goals and three assists.
  • Bates tallied a multi-goal game for the first time.
  • Peeters earned her sixth win over the season, and 11th of her career.
  • SNHU has played three overtime games this season and won two of them.
  • The Falcons saw a five-game win streak snapped.
  • Bentley leads the all-time series 8-6, although the Penmen have won five of the last seven and two straight.
  • At 5-3 in NE10 play, SNHU moves into a fourth-place tie with Pace University.
