Freshman Has Four Goals, Christis Adds Hat Trick In 9-0 Win

SNHU field hockey rolled past Molloy University 9-0 Saturday as freshman Minke van de Poll set a modern-day program record with nine points on four goals and an assist.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • van de Poll – 4 goals, 1 assists (9 points)
  • Junior Annemartine Christis ('s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands) – 3 assists
  • Sophomore Emma Peeters (Wageningen, Netherlands) – 4 saves
 
KEY MOMENTS
  • Christis recorded a hat trick for the Penmen, scoring the game's first goal at 1:47, and adding two more as the Penmen built a 4-0 lead. 
  • van de Poll scored on a penalty stroke in the first period, then scored three consecutive goals in the third quarter as the Penmen opened an 7-0 lead.
  • Goals by senior Emma Thibodeau (Danvers, Mass.) and sophomore Anne Wiersma (Veldhoven, Netherlands) finished the scoring for the Penmen.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Penmen took 25 shots, including 18 on goal and they had 14 penalty corners.
NOTES
  • van de Poll, with ten goals, is tied for the third in the NE10.   
  • Since the resumption of the SNHU program in 2014, van de Poll is the first player to score four goals in a game.  
  • Christis scored her first three goals of the season and has scored 11 points in the last five games.
  • SNHU has won four of the last five overall, and leads the all-time series with Molloy 6-0.
