Men's Cross Country Finishes 5th at Bruce Kirsh Run

Carter Sylvester Leads Penmen Friday

Junior Carter Sylvester (Northwood, N.H.) finished 15th overall to lead SNHU to a fifth-place finish at Friday's Bruce Kirsh at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Sylvester finished up in 26:12.21.
  • Freshman Eric Sekyaya (Burlington, Mass.) wound up in 21st place with a time of 26:34.38.
  • Sophomore Zak Laverdiere (Seekonk, Mass.) finished 23rd in 26:50.49.
  • Freshman Brett Trainor (North Chelmsford, Mass.) ran a new PR, finishing 31st in 27:25.41.
  • Also scoring for the Penmen was senior Kody Gagnon (Tolland, Conn.).
NOTES
  • This was the 11th running of the Bruce Kirsh Cross Country Cup, hosted by Franklin Pierce University.
  • Merrimack College (30) edged out Franklin Pierce (36) for the team title.  Saint Michael's College (101) finished third, just ahead of Adelphi University (102).
  • Franklin Pierce runner Wondu Summa won the Bruce Kirsh for a second consecutive season with a time of 25:07.38.
  • The NCAA East Region Championship will be conducted on the Hopkinton Fairgrounds Course on Saturday, November 4.
UP NEXT
  • The Northeast-10 Cross Country Championships will be held on Sunday, October 22 at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass.  The men's race is scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m.
