Southern Connecticut Steals Late Tie With Women's Soccer

Graduate student Victoria Roulston (E. Falmouth, Mass.) scored twice to stake the Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team to a first-half lead, but Southern Connecticut State University struck in the final minutes to squeak out a 2-2 tie Wednesday evening at Ouellette Stadium.

KEY MOMENTS
  • Southern New Hampshire drew first blood midway through the 12th minute when Conti sent a ball into the box that Roulston ran onto, beating the goalkeeper to it and knocking it into the net.
  • After Southern Connecticut tied it late in the 31st minute, Roulston struck again with just under 10 minutes left in the half, as she deflected the ball into the net off a corner service from Anderson.
  • The score stayed, 2-1, into the 89th minute when the Owls took advantage of a free kick just outside of the top of the box, as Kelsey Burr went top right corner to collect the equalizer.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • It was the third time Keith has matched her career high of seven saves.
  • Southern Connecticut goalkeeper Abby Aughe stopped three shots.
  • SCSU narrowly outshot SNHU, 14-13, including 9-5 on goal.
  • The Owls also held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire is unbeaten in its last three contests (1-0-2).
  • SNHU leads the all-time series with SCSU, 12-11-7. The Penmen are unbeaten in nine of the last 10 meetings (6-1-3), including the last six at home (4-1-1).
  • Roulston's goals were her second and third of the season, as well as the sixth and seventh of her career. It is her first multi-goal game.
  • The assist gave Anderson the team-lead in points (5-1-11).
  • The Penmen are now 48-22-18 (.648) over their last 88 matches dating back to the start of the 2017 campaign.
  • SNHU is 33-7-9 (.765) at home since the end of the 2016 season, including 24-7-7 (.724) at Ouellette Stadium.
