Graduate student Jose Saez (Murcia, Spain) tied the game with a second-half goal, but the Penmen fell 3-1 at Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon in New Haven.

KEY MOMENTS
  • The Owls took a 1-0 lead in the 41st minute on a goal by Yannick Hilpert after a perfect centering pass from David Lops.
  • SNHU tied the game at 1-1 in the 66th minute.  Escobedo sent a free kick to Saez who finished with a header in the top of the net.
  • Southern Connecticut hit the game winner in the 71st minute on a goal by Ozar Razo in front of the net after a corner kick.
  • Hilpert scored again on a 2-on-1 break with 4:39 to play to make it 3-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • SNHU had 14 shots to 12 for the Owls- each team put eight balls on goal.
  • The Penmen had a 7-2 advantage on corner kicks.
  • Devin Juan of the Owls made seven saves while junior Preston Neal (Windham, N.H.) had five saves for the Penmen.
NOTES
  • The Owls leads the all-time series with SNHU 30-19-8.  
  • Saez, who scored his first SNHU goal in the win earlier in the week against Saint Rose, added his second of the season.
  • It was the second consecutive game Escobedo delivered a ball that the Penmen were able to score on a header.
  • With six assists, Escobedo leads the Penmen and is tied for the Northeast-10 lead.
  • SNHU is now 129-34-23 (.755) over its last 186 matches dating back to the beginning of the 2013 National Championship season.

  • The Penmen will be home on Wednesday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m. when they play host to Assumption University on both Senior Night and Hooksett Youth Soccer Night.
