Senior Jess Knight (Hanover, Mass.) scored 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as SNHU Women's Basketball won 73-47 over the University of Bridgeport Saturday in a non-conference game at the Stan Spirou Field House.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Knight – 21 points (8-13 FG, 5-5 FT), 11 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 assist
  • Graduate student Adriana Timberlake (Braintree, Mass.) – 17 points (7-13 FG, 1-4 3-FG, 2-2 FT), 5 assists, 2 rebounds
  • Sophomore Meghan Gordon (Attleboro, Mass.) – 7 points (3-6 FG, 1-1 3-FG) 2 rebounds
KEY MOMENTS
  • The Penmen hit on 7-of-17 shots in the first quarter, including two-of-four three-pointers to open a 21-5 lead.
  • Knight scored eight of her points in the second quarter, giving 15 at the half, as the Penmen led 38-17 at the break.
  • SNHU continued to shoot well, hitting 13-23 (56.5%) in the second half while holding the Purple Knights to 10-35 (28.5%).
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Freshman Ava Winterburn (New Boston, N.H.) hit two three-point field goals for a career-high six points.
  • Junior Sydnie DeVries (Monson, Mass.), graduate student Macy Spinks (Luton, England), and sophomore Hailey Sherrick (Braintree, Mass.) each contributed five points for the Penmen.
  • SNHU finished the game 27-54 (50.0%) and 5-14 (35.7) from three-point range.  Bridgeport shot 17-65 (26.2%) and 2-15 (13.3%).
  • The Penmen hit 14-17 on free throws (82.4%).
  • Each team had 38 rebounds.
  • Bridgeport turned the ball over 15 times, leading to 23 SNHU points.  The Penmen had 11 turnovers, leading to 7 points for the Purple Knights.

  • Bridgeport leads the all-time series with the Penmen 26-22, but the Penmen have won the last six meetings.
  • SNHU is now 47-17 (.734) since the start of the 2021-22 season, including 23-9 (.719) at the Stan Spirou Field House.
  • The Penmen are 6-0 this season when Knight has scored 18 points or more.
  • Timberlake continues to climb the all-time scoring list, now at 1248 points.  That ranks eighth.  Next up on the list is Trisha Johnson (81-85) with 1256 points.
