Tim Usalis (Danvers, Mass.) had a goal and an assist as SNHU defeated Assumption University 3-2 Friday night. With the win, the Penmen have secured a home playoff game in the Northeast-10 Championship that gets underway next Tuesday.

KEY MOMENTS
- Amante gave the Penmen a 1-0 lead with his power-play goal 18 seconds into the second period with his rebound shot. Thurston and Usalis were awarded assists.
- Ray scored at 7:07 of the second period to make it 2-0 off a pass from freshman Brendan Lynch (Nepean, Ont.).
- Assumption's William Smith cut the lead to 2-1 at 16:24.
- The game-winning goal was scored by Usalis at 3:07 of the third period with assists to Thurston and freshman Zachary Smith (Boxford, Mass.).
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- SNHU went 1-for-5 on the power play and Assumption was 0-for-5.
- Mercer returned to the line-up and handled 30 of the 32 shots. Assumption's Thomas McLarnon had 24 saves on SNHU's 27 shots.
NOTES
- The Penmen have won three straight NE10 games to secure fourth place in the standings. That will give SNHU a home quarterfinal game with Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 7:40 p.m. at The Ice Den Arena.
- Assumption still leads the season series with SNHU 2-1, while the Penmen lead the all-time series 41-38-5.
