Ariana Koivisto (Pomfret, Conn.) scored a career-high 24 points to help lead third-seed SNHU to a 69-55 win over The College of Saint Rose in a Northeast-10 Championship quarterfinal on Sunday afternoon at the Stan Spirou Field House.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Penmen played from the lead for most of the contest, opening a 5-0 lead on a three-pointer from junior Julia Colby (S. Paris, Maine) and a field goal from Knight at 7:21. SNHU had a 20-14 lead at the end of the first quarter.
- The lead grew to as many as 14 in the second quarter, which saw the Penmen hold the Golden Knights to just 10 points on 3-for-17 shooting.
- The Penmen maintained a double-digit lead through the third quarter, taking a 46-31 lead on a Knight second-chance bucket with 3:41 to go.Â
- When Roche hit a three-pointer with 43 seconds left in the third quarter, the Penmen had a 52-33 lead, the biggest of the contest.
- Saint Rose did close to within eight, but no closer. SNHU hit just 2-of-12 field goals in the fourth quarter, but made 13-of-16 free throws, including 6-for-6 by Koivisto to maintain the lead to the buzzer.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Colby added six points for SNHU.
- Sophomore Sydnie DeVries (Monson, Mass.) pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds and freshman Meghan Gordon (Attleboro, Mass.) had seven boards.Â
- For the game, SNHU had a 54-36 rebounding advantage for the contest and a 17-10 edge on offensive rebounds. The Penmen outscored Saint Rose 11-4 on second-chance points.
- The Penmen turned the ball over 21 times, to 15 for the Golden Knights.
- SNHU shot 32.8 % (19-58) to 30.3 % for Saint Rose (20-66). The Penmen hit on 8-of-21 three-pointers compared to 3-for-17 for Saint Rose.Â
- The Golden Knights were led by Isabel Sanchez, who scored 21 points.
NOTES
- The Penmen defeated Saint Rose for the third time this season, extending the current win streak over the Golden Knights to seven. SNHU now leads the all-time series 17-16. Â
- Koivisto's 24 eclipsed her previous game-high of 18 set on January 28 vs. Pace University.
- SNHU wins 20 games in back-to-back seasons for the first time. The program record for wins in a season is 22, set in 1989-90. The Penmen won 21 games last season.
- The Penmen advanced to the NE10 Championship semifinals for the first time.
WHAT'S NEXT
- The Penmen will head to Assumption University in the NE10 Championship semifinals on Thur. (March 2) at 7 p.m. The Greyhounds are seeded second. SNHU and Assumption split the two games they played during the regular season.Â
