Graduate student Fernando Torres (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) gave the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team a 3-2 lead with his No. 3 singles victory, but Babson College rallied to steal a 4-3 win Saturday at the YMCA Allard Center of Goffstown.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Torres came back to defeat Maxwell Conlin, 2-6, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 3.
- Sophomore Jonathan Berling (Moss, Norway) was a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) winner over Brady Anderson at No. 1 singles, tying the match at 2-all.
- Junior Jesse Den Hartog (Amsterdam, Netherlands) opened singles play, leveling the match, 1-1, with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at No. 2 singles versus Luis Utrilla.
- Graduate student Aron Ouwejan (Wervershoof, Netherlands) and freshman Phillipp Roeder (Augsburg, Germany) kicked off doubles with a 6-2 victory against Conlin and Brooks Green at No. 3.
NOTES
- Ouwejan lost to Wesley Zhang, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), at No. 5 singles, while Roeder was downed by Green at No. 6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-0.
- Southern New Hampshire is 3-1 for the fourth time in the last six seasons.
- SNHU and Babson have now split two all-time meetings.
